Hmm, I can think of four former employees who did exactly that over relatively dumb but not critical mistakes. Their sudden leaving was a bigger pain than the mistake. "Damn kids these days!"

She didn't have to get such a stick up her ass over an honest mistake. I would've quit too. Cunt.

@lonefire Yeah, it was kind of strange to try to make an example out of someone she apparently judges something of a perfectionist. But I suppose the manager would be stressed out by the sudden need to restock and not being able to open the restaurant normally, so she wasn't in the correct mental state to think twice about it. However, if the fridge had simply broken late the previous day, without anyone noticing, it would have been the same, yet with nobody to blame.

Honestly, it's better if the manager gets it out right there, then won't talk about it again, than to have him/her holding a grudge. The girl was a high school student. Her skin isn't that thick yet, and she is still developing mentally, so that reaction is kinda understandable. But if you're going to quit only after that much, as an adult... Well, customer service isn't for you.

Honestly it’s better to just confront about the mistake than ignore it, even if the girl is a teenager learning responsibility’s also important this would be a learning opportunity for her to know that mistakes happen and to fix mistakes she needs to pull through and work harder. If she quits it’s up to her but understandable if she does since she was pretty much in front of everyone when the mistake happened and she wants to her seen as a responsible senpai.

Pretty obvious it was going to end that way. Perfectionists are already hard enough on themselves over minor details.
Imagine how they must feel when they're told there would be consequences. She already knows she screwed up in a big way, no need to rub it in.

Running a kitchen myself, if whoever was supposed to do the checks didn't follow through and potentially cost the business a good chunk of time/money, too right I'd have a word.

I know this is a mango, so who cares about realism, but the manager did right by pulling perfectionist on not doing the checks properly, which would not only mean what was prepped in that fridge going to the bin, but if there were any inspectors floating around that would be a major slap on the fucking wrist. The only way it could've been played out better would be to pull the perf girl to the side and have a quiet word, not show it off to everybody else, but hey, we need some melodrama I guess?
