Well this is... potentially quite messy. The Soviets were a bucket of fuck, but the Romanov family's imperial Tzarist rule was also brutal and monstrous, if this series tries to romanticize that... gonna be some oof if the series ends up taking either side.

Okay yeah, they're definitely presenting Tzarist Russia as some shiny wonderland, which was... absolutely not in any way accurate, Pogroms (massacres) against Jewish people were common, the Tzars managed to get a bunch of people trampled to death at a poorly organized coronation, launched an ill-fated war on Japan that killed a shit-ton of Russians for no reason, the peasants were Serfs, little more than feudal slaves, Russia was failing to modernise socially, politically, economically or technologically, and many many other massive problems.

The Bolshevik revolution may have led to a shitty new state of affairs, but there's a lot of good reasons a revolution happened in the first place.

I don't think everyone wants a history lesson... How is the manga? xD I'll try to read first chapter.

I mean... the historical context is kinda inextricably built into the very bones of the story, seeing as that period in Russian history is what it's about.

As to the story? eh, I kinda bounced off it.
