Important question. Why is Subaru cosplaying as Jigen ?! Is that a classic reference i'm missing ? I'm not that much into Lupin III tbh.

I don't know much about Lupin III, but AFAIK anything that involves a suit and adventure/stealing is automatically a Lupin reference. Jigen's hat also helps.

Pretty sure that's not Jigen, unless Oyster's only referencing the basic look and the mannerisms, since Jigen's suit isn't white, he rarely takes his hat off, and is never without his gun.

I keep thinking it's supposed to be MJ, but I can't match the "goes with the desert" reference.

Lupin gang ends in a desert several times. I have never watched anything but some movies but probably it's something they said. After all who the hell goes into a desert with a suit besides those guys.

A ton of westerns feature characters in suits and a lot of settings that ape the wild west desert aesthetic carry that over. It could be any one of those.
