I think it more has to do with Allen is a commoner and Ana being IIRC a Dutchess?

I think only Anna's father raised that issue. And not because of him against the relationship per se, but because of the nobility rules.

PS: Anna is not a duchess, her mother is, but still Anna is the daughter of a Duke and that means some rules for nobility must be observed.

I dunno... when Anna woke up, Allen was the only one rushing to her bed and embraced her in uncontained happiness.

I think at the moment the Duke has resigned himself to the fact that Allen will indeed become his son-in-law.

Also don't forget that Allen helped ensure the Duke's safe escape from the capital. So, there's that.
