How did he die from such a non-fatal stab wound like that!? It's not like the sword went the other end and it's nowhere near any noticable major organ nor did it hit the spine.
Only the tip of the sword went in. At most he will bleed but as long as they keep the blade in, until treatment he shouldn't die from blood loss, since the sword is in the body and should stop the majority of the blood from spilling out.

the guy broke a chair on allen's back and broke a few ribs so this is just him passing out from that regardless

Allen is certainly paying the price for totally skipping and neglecting all forms of close combat. He only ever practiced stealth sniping and aerial bombing, so he was out of his element when fists, and swords, started talking. Though that being said, I suppose it was difficult to predict a bunch of guards would suddenly turn into traitors, so Allen can't be blamed 100% for falling here. He should have made a sidearm of the 9mm kind at some point.
