This is actually a pretty unique approach to a duel. Instead of the one with crippling disadvantage in reach and mass bullshitting herself to victory it was about the big guy finding a way to lose without either of them losing face.

He took that well, poor guy. At his introduction, at first glance, you'd be forgiven for judging a book by its cover and thinking he was arrogant, brutish and looked down on her for reasons of prejudice rather than for practical reasons. By the end of the duel we can see he's is kindly, a pragmatist and has integrity.

Ratna starts off with a lot of the 'woman stronk' vibes, proves that she actually is strong and worthy, but ends this chapter looking like a dorkish ball of moe anyway.
