It's not bad in comparison usual stupid rom-coms. People actually have relationships. They have conflicts, intimacy and etc.
BUT this series is riddled with drama and drama just never stops. I feel stressed just by reading this i made it up to chapter 29. To my knowledge there are 21 volumes and around 68 chapter now, not to mention in 2020 author released a sequel i.e. what happened 10 years later (So if you look into it you will know who Makoto married after 10 years).

It might cultural difference but there are some moments in the series that just seem not just dumb but imbecilic. For example a single mother with her child...after learning her reasons, why she became single mother, i just felt betrayed and wanted to scream at the author and that character.
At her for her stupidity i somehow understand mistakes and rash decisions when she was 17, but even 17y olds are not brainless they are just prone to emotional and rash decisions but she is dumb beyond compare even after 5 years.
Next point is the author, if i were her relative or a friend who knows the whole story i would fucking destroy her(verbal conflict) and contact the child's father. My point is she is just a selfish imbecile, when you have a child you must concentrate on that little person and seek what's best for that bundle of joy and problems.

To summarize:
It has a lot of drama - The problem is that it's just too much drama for the the people. Many drama points are quite plainly stupid and are overexaggerated though in the realms of reality. Which makes the series feel artificial because author clearly keeps readers attention on dramatic/melodramatic points and chaos.

NTR? Yes and no. Up to chapter 29 there aren't any sexual NTR plot points besides the pedo-kun who was apprehended.
But why did i say YES? There are a lot of of love triangles this series just survives based on love triangles. Ohhh did i say love triangles no sorry it's just a chaotic circle, everyone is in love with each other and the main couple is constantly bombarded by outer forces, be it subtly or aggressively.
Main couple though? Fucking ignorant cunts who allow outer forces to approach them at this point i would tell my GF or BF (if i were in their shoes) that you either fucking limit your interactions with opposite gender or we should just stay clear of each other because it seems they don't understand the basic concept of respecting their partners and not giving them reasons for concern.
FMC - Is territorial when it only comes to her but is okay with being friends with guys and let's just say in chapter 29 a new potential love rival comes a long who is also mature and caring (unlike the 1st rival, who was friendzoned from the start) so i presume she will feel conflicted and there will be a lot of drama and her running into embraces of the other guy before she will finally understand something.
MMC - Dude literally knows that some other girls love him and even after his girlfriend told him she feels insecure about him being close and kind to them he still freaking continues to do so. He literally hindered and single mothers chance at a better life though he also helped her, i'm pretty sure things will sort out and will be okay but i as an adult cringe at everything i see.

Why am i mad? This series encompasses many adults including parents, but it feels that adults just idle by without giving mature advices or support while younger people just do imbecilic mistakes. In reality though, those who are older 100% give advices to correct stupid mistakes or parents will support their children. In the manga though? They stay quiet and have minimal interaction or impact OR make imbecilic mistakes themselves as if every adult is unhinged teenager (For now only reference is FMC's mother and MMC father). Heck even the MMC's love trinalges or quadangles are infuriating (same for FMC), if i were their friend i would confront them (yes even when i was 16-20 i understood that there must be some form of distance) and say "Dude you have a girlfriend, why the hell are you with other women? Especially when it's clear as a day that they are into you?" <-- Does anyone say anything? Nope.

So yah, author survives only because of drama and drama that is artificial. There almost no natural plot points they are almost all artificial.

Damn, I read the initial chapters on Mdex and liked the series...
This sounds so different from the story at the beginning lol
thought more focus would be on MC's financial struggle and fitting in school life.

Same actually.
I try to avoid drama but if i like a story a bear with it.

This manga though? Festers on drama.
To be fair i learned that author is a woman just recently (just now). And they tend to create drama-melodrama (soap operas).
So the logical long term (and real) problems take a backseat usually.

Haha, makes sense.
I assume you read the Japanese version of this? since I can't find the English version of any of this.
I still want to finish this someday and witness the drama train wreck.

I honestly don't remember up to which chapter i've read. (Likely also up to chapter 24)
As of this moment there are 21 volumes and i could potentially read up to chapter 39 (volume 12) in another language.
But i'm taking a break from manga for minimum 1 year, need to cleanse myself from all of this emasculation and cuckery. :fml:

haha, you just have to choose finished titles and read some reviews before diving in xD
I do enjoy finding new titles, so I will have to suffer through what you mentioned... :haa:
The problem is i was into anime/novel/manga for around +17 years....So i kinda gotten my favorite genres and basically read everything i wanted to read so i sorta waited for each quarter for new releases.

After a while i noticed that instead of standard male being an idiotic pervert troupe (also didn't like it much) they started using loser troupe or shy guy troupe and amount just kept increasing as the years went by. And as i grew older i started to tolerate less and less, it was funny for the first 5 mangas after that it starts to fester like a cancer.
Point is they just can't find a perfect middle ground, rarely do authors make someone who walks the perfect middle ground. But i presume then target audience in Japan would dislike MMC.

I also have been watching/reading around the same time period as you.
Honestly, I try to avoid thinking about it too much and try to focus on the rest of the story... I usually prefer more action/adventure-focused stories, darker stories, or cough trashy isekai cough.

I wish they would let go of the 'self-insert' loser tropes or at least create less of them.
