@ac1d1c that's how it always starts with these types of character, but 9/10 times, they usually just quickly devolve into constant roadblock or drama-vending machines on the fritz. The Yandere ""friend"" from Komi-san is a good example, as is the 'friend' from Fudatsuki. Honestly, there's usually one of those types in seinen romances involving teenagers or characters in their early 20's (and uncommonly in shoujo, which itself has the rival friend/brother problem).
