hmmmm, either japan allowed same sex marriages in that time frame or they went to have their wedding to a country that allows it, and went back to japan as a married couple now to live there. thinking about it, the latter was the most possible and logical way to be together as a married couple from the WHOLE BEGINNING. good ending fix tho.

@chenando1 There's probably some priest-ish people in Japan willing to perform ceremonies for same-sex couples; they wouldn't have any legal significance, but then in Japan neither do anybody else's marriage ceremonies. It's the family registry stuff that makes you legally married. Sooo, they could have gone abroad and had a little legal ceremony somewhere that allows same sex marriages, and then come back and had a legally irrelevant but satisfying wedding in Japan.
