To me, the ending to Citrus seemed rushed, and I associated that with a perception that the audience was getting fatigued. Yet now there's this sequel series.

Not sure if it needed a sequel after that ending, but for now I'll see where it goes. To be fair, I'm already getting tired of Matsuri. I understand that she played sorta big role in the ending of main manga and getting rid of now would be strange, but they're forcing her too much nevertheless.
