Saito is so obviously in love with her but she can't even see that and keeps on being selfish, like if you still don't want to be with him in the truest sense even after realizing how you feel, f*cking give up and pass the opportunity to someone who's been wanting it for literal YEARS, Saito might feel hurt sure but COME ON, this whole arc just frustrates me

He's just as guilty of not saying anything to her. The only difference is that he does so because of trauma while she's just being a dumb rom-com tsundere because moe or whatever.

I'm close to dropping this though. Almost 50 chapters in and we've had no progress. Plus the side characters besides the gal classmate whose name I forget mostly suck and I hate the weird boner Japan has for aristocracy and "powerful, old lineage families are just better than you and are blessed with divine superior gifts" and all that garbage. Like it's one thing to have him be from a rich family and that drives a wedge between him and everyone else at school, but the author goes out of the way to make him be special and superior and everyone just accepts that he obviously would be because he comes from a rich and famous family. And then we get into all this nonsense family drama where basically everyone is a scumbag in the current arc and now the extra trash from Shise's maid.

I assume what she brings to the table that MC lacks is emotional intelligence, since for all that "super duper noble lineage that is so special and so superior they get demonized by the dirty, dumb plebeians" cringy thing, everyone in his family has the emotional maturity of a fucking toddler. Like, bitch, you are 40, why are you using fucking blind chess to bully a teenager?

That said, emotional intelligence ain't Akane's strong suit either, so I guess it's just the power of love.
