It's exaggerated (because it's manga) but it's not really that unrealistic. The parents are more affectionate in front of their kids than the typical Japanese couple, but they're about on par with a typical American couple (except the chocolate thing, that's a little weird...). It's not like they're getting it on in front of their kid.

I kissed several girls at that age, and it was normal to play house and pretend to have kids and talk about being in love and getting married and whatnot. Kids imitate their parents - that's how they learn.

The gold digging isn't really important. It's usually not important why you get with someone - most people do it out of physical attraction or just lust. If love grows out of it, then there's no problem.

Hell, I recently celebrated my 21st anniversary with a woman I hooked up with because I liked her boobs and she went down on me at a party. She doesn't even have the boobs anymore (cancer) but I wouldn't trade her for the world.
