Yep, given the amusement park date was for the confession, it's logical that the fireworks festival would have a different significant event, and boy, did we get some good progression out of our main couple.
Our man, Takuya, is getting respect points here. I like that he's straightforward with his compliments, which are always critical hits on Shion. And then going straight for the handholding - our guy playing strong here (and he even did that in the past, which had to take immense courage to do). And these two are just natural on dates, as we'll learn that they're on the same wavelength with each other.
Also, respect to Takuya for rectifying his past mistakes, which I don't fault him for. He was just a kid at the time, and although his thought process was flawed, it was understandable. Given that Shion is not a local resident, he didn't anticipate Shion wanting to come back next year. In the current time, Takuya replays the scene with the fireworks display, but now he goes into total CHAD mode and straight up kisses Shion (and this did not look like just a peck, lol). I also like how he's open with admitting to Shion what he did wrong in the past.
So in this fireworks festival, we got to see handholding AND three full kisses -> have to bring out the gallons of insulin

Oh wow this chapter was gold in a land of pyrite, I am thankful for all the shitty romcom for existing for making this taste so much better by comparison.
While I was reading I thought that I was fine even if they didn't kiss, because their relationship is so strong, they are so comfortable with each other that is better than so many other Romcoms where they are supposed to be a couple or even married and can't even stand close to each other.
That is one of my biggest problem with Romcoms.
You can people be awkward around each other (like Max and Roxanne in "A goofy movie") but at a certain point is like the author is telling us they got mental issues and are not a good fit for one another.
Another problem is that the way intimacy is exchanged between romcom characters at times it feels too artificial, it lacks that natural desire for people who love each other to just be close and they turn every instance of it into a ceremony, it puts it into an un-necessary pedestal and takes out the inherent spontaneity it often can have.
these two communicate and while still shy and embarassed go forward.
Also the artist's art is a joy for my eyes, I love the way he draws the characters, makes me want to squeeze their cheeks.
