She's kind of like a parasite actually. But in her case she'll leech on to someone if that someone have the power to protect her from harm and that's Hirata. Hirata also have a story himself that made him sympathize with Karuizawa. And her being a bully/follow the bullies to not get bullied yourself attitude is actually very common. I can't blame her as I did that too.
