I'd much rather read a short-ish manga about Clevatess wageing a war of pre-emptive non-aggression to exterminate humans and nip the threat in the bud.

Then there wouldn't be a story to tell. Why even read if you don't want a story.

there could be a couple of volumes of story
Clevatess just annihilated one of the few kingdoms in a single chapter, and they weren't even able to fight back. How could there be a couple of volumes if he just kills everyone in a few chapters? And would it really be interesting to see an overpowered beast slaughtering humanity when they can't even fight back?

obviously they glossed over it in the first chapter but later chapters could be more detailed and other kingdoms could be somewhat more powerful, which is exactly what they're doing in the main story.
and yes, it would be interesting (depending on execution) because you don't see it often whereas the "very powerful individual has to look after a baby/child" storyline is very common

Hmm…… maybe you’re right. I guess our tastes just differ.
