Just to be clear, not everyone goes through a phase where they can't stop thinking about coffee. I've never been that interested in it--I'm a chocolate fiend and my hot drinks are cocoa or hot chocolate (which are not quite the same--cocoa uses cocoa powder and sugar, hot chocolate uses melted chocolate or weird crappy hot chocolate powder stuff).

Did not know this about Coco and hot chocolate. I didn't start drinking coffee until my 50s. For me it's dark coffee with heavy cream.

The dichotomy between Sayana, Takaki, and Shizuka are interesting. Sayana is 10, Takaki is 18, and Shizuka is 26. Each is 8 years different from the next. We see how Takaki treats Sayana as a kid because, well, she is a kid. And from how Takaki thinks Shizuka sees him is also a kid. Like, why wouldn't she? She's 8 years older than him, same as Takaki to Sayana. But as you get older, those 8 years aren't the same.
