But in my humble opinion, removing the ambiguity in the language, this time, may be less faithful to the original.
but in this particular case I think it may be possible to preserve the spirit of the text and the logical flow of events with just a slight adjustment to the cause of the ambiguity, rather than removing it outright.
Me explaining the whole conundrum in a note was a way to stay faithful to the author and the language of original (for me). The ambiguity is here, and I believe that's where it should stay to keep things organic. Changing speech patterns of the character to something it isn't - is handing it in bad faith (imo), so I absolutely disagree with the solution you suggested earlier, because I see it as rewriting. I was, indeed, lamenting something, but not the solution I came up with, but the fact that there was no ideal solution due to the differences in languages in this situation. If you've been reading Combini, you probably saw me literally bitching about Japanese language from time to time.

I don't like holding back.
Anyway, please don't take my suggestion as an indication that I don't think you're doing a great job or that I don't appreciate all your hard work on the series!
I don't take criticism or suggestions as personal attacks, but I have to wonder - if you truly think I'm doing a great job like you said, why did you think that bringing it up in public is the best way to show it.

I have a discord server, this forum have DMs/PMs and I don't bite people who try to contact me with questions, suggestions, requests, etc etc. I find it kind of baffling, tbh. Well then, I think I'm done here. I hope you'll enjoy the rest of the series as I release new chapters. I know I did. ^^
