No he does get control over it. It's the standard game progression kind though where his skill levels up so he gets stronger over time with it. Also he goes thru a body reformation arc like mentioned by others and he becomes "handsome", probably to look more like Sung Jin-woo but time will tell what he'll change into.

Since he can't escape the cursed blessing, he should learn to control it, not denying it. Preventing assimilation while cultivating the body to resist forced control seems like the best option he currently has.
