I've seen all the comments hating on the emperor, but I don't know why. He's the EMPEROR of an entire kingdom. He hired an ASSASSIN to use her for her professional services. ie Killing and gathering intel. OF COURSE he dug into her past. It's the smart, wise, and rational thing to do. His attraction towards her is as we've all seen: childish and immature. That's because she's different to the ACTUAL concubines that he has. As an emperor he most likely has been involved in politics since birth and doesn't know much about the outside world. They showed that last chapter. If she threatened him, then he would remove her from the contract. That's what any smart person, let alone ruler, would and SHOULD do. The only mistake he made was telling her he looked into her. However, if she had ties to an EMPEROR KILLING rebel faction then by all means he should question her. Even then, If he had locked her up to interrogate her; she would have been on guard and unwilling to talk. Doing it in a friendlier environment was still the smarter move.

I didn't really like the emperor because based off what I've seen our fl is doing all of this because of the contract. The emperor does have a right to look into her, but he should've known that the fact that it wasn't in the contract, the fact that he brought it up would've trigger our fl in a way. I don't really ship our fl with the emperor, because it shows that she still feels something for her childhood friend. And the fact that he still affects her and his race shows how important they are to her, so I dont really blame her for reacting like that. It was over the line for the emperor to do that, even if he hired her they're not that close. And even the line shouldn't be crossed as she said. I'm not sure, at the moment I'm not really shopping our fl with anyone, but I only really liked her interactions with the shady fox lmao. And I'm not really fond with the emperor either.

@UuulonnyuuU ngl same. he has no benefit prying to her life and he should be mature enough as idk the EMPEROR to put aside personal feelings during a contract but almost makes it seem like its our fls fault for not opening up when hes making her uncomfy.

Idk if hes doing this because hes smart bc it feels like hes doings this off of personal feelings (its clear hes developing some feelings for her whether it be romantic or such) and yeah he SHOULD have already done a background check before but thats different from straight up going to an assassin and being like tell me ur past just bc i asked u to
the thing is also checking horen will not bring any benefit and asking her about it doesnt do much but break the trust that is necessary so that both parties get the intel they need
(if he was smart, he would have checked horen and have found enough information to threaten fl with so he can use fl however he wants but he hasnt)
idk like whats the point of making a contract and exposing yourself then cutting it off bc boo hoo fl didnt tell u her secrets?? fl is already a perfect match with barely much past except one dude she sees in her dreams but other than that is perfect for the emperor to accomplish what he needs to but he was like nah

honestly this would have never happened if the stupid emperor never decided to intentionally hit our FL's sore spot, LIKE HE KNOWS THIS TRIGGERS HER. They're CONTRACTUAL PARTNERS, his petty feelings shouldn't be involved in this. Seems like the emperor is too much of a possessive jerk to keep a contract with a FAKE concubine, really says "wise emperor" to me.

You're right! I understand from Yesuh's perspective that the emperor is wrong and crossing the line by peering into her personal matters.
But it's also the emperor's duty too to see if she had any ties to some rebellion activities and make sure that she's not a threat to the emperor and his people.

But it's a different story if he took the action based on his personal feelings, like jealous and angry over the matter that he can't know her past life. Y'know, those "curiosity killed the cat" type of thing, idk.
If that's the reason, then he should understand why she did that. Just like he didn't show that one prisoner that he kept visiting by telling Yesuh it's the emperor's personal matter and tell her to mind her own business.

Lol this made it seems like the emperor is an egoistic-stubborn guy, or maybe just a jelly guy; falling in love for the first time haha.

I completely agree by how you think, if I didn't read your comment I would probably keep seeing this chapter without considering the emperor's perspective. Nice!

We all know why he prayed over her past, not for his emperor duties, but find out who is the other guy. Anyway when he did a contract with her he already knew or should have considered she would be part of some shady background, otherwise she would have being a normal girl. But she is a killer, he broke her trust by keep on chasing after her private life. She doesn't investigate his reasons behind the damned contract so he should also keep the line, but he keeps wanting to cross over. By his own means. 7_7

Look I get it, he is the emperor and he had a reason to look over her personal life just to be extra careful since she is an assassin BUT despite seeing how Yesuh, behaved when he asked her about Horen, he STILL had the audacity to ask her about her personal life once again. Like wtfff
And asking about their personal life is not even mentioned in their contact, whatsoever. It’s really shitty of him to do that and they are not even THAT close either tbh. So don’t really blame Yesuh for losing her temper, it’s a touchy subject for her anyways. Still like Ahhon and kinda ship them but wish he didn’t do that. Now I wonder what’s gonna happen laterrr >~<

Eh, the one being unreasonable is him though?! He should already know that Horen is important to her; so insulting him without knowing anything + investigating her past without her permission...honestly, the one not really worth of trust is him?! Anyone would be angry if their past (which she obviously did not want to disclose to him) is being investigated; ever heard of privacy??
