I hope I can read more stories like this in the future. I've never felt so emotionally tied to a fight scene in my entire life. I never understood what people meant when they said they were screaming about a story but I was actually on my hands and knees on my living room floor screaming for Pete to win when the "the man who would be disappointed today would be El Cucaracho". I was flipping and flopping between emotion as the author flipped and flopped between who it looked like it'd win through the whole fight. The author totally subverted my expectations by having Pete break EC's leg with his own leg that had been shown to be cracked earlier on. I thought it was going to be a whole Tarkov's Gun or whatever it is, the whole gun thing in story writing, and Pete's leg was gonna break when he lost or break and he still win or something. It was a great subversion even if not purposeful, and even more so if purposeful. This was truly a masterpiece and I'm actually almost in tears thinking about how there might not be anymore Convict Colliseum after this. I don't really know what else to say other than...What a fight.

I saw this coming, to an extent the protagonist of the story was Pete and so he would win against its villain but I am disappointed El Cucaracho didn't win or wasn't killed, I don't know see how he can get a happy ending or how expectations could otherwise be subverted. This is one of the few predictable fights but the choreography itself was a beautiful read. It just kept going and going to the breaking point.

I hope Convict Coloseum somehow gets a physical release, I've seen GNs on store shelves with literal deviantart quality illustrations so the fidelity of the drawings shouldn't be an issue.
