While that's true, that's more how it works with hot spices. Bitterness tends to ease up when your taste buds get worse, it's more of a so-called acquired taste. When you first encounter it, the brain recognises it as something toxic, so it tastes bad. However, once you ingest enough of it without issue, the brain lets up on that and files it under edible. Now, it's still up to personal taste whether you actually like it, but the brain won't immediately reject it.
