all newborns look the same (like a cross between a crumpled ball of paper and a potato) until they hit ~2 months old. up to that point, parents are simply deluded by their hormones into thinking that they're the most adorable things in the world (they're ugly as hell).

Newborns of all species look like crap. I've seen human newborns, deer newborns, puppy newborns, kitty newborns, and even panda newborns. All uniquely ugly. It takes a little while until they become cute lil babies.

Dunno what it is up with everyone saying babies look ugly right after being born. All of us in my family were pretty photogenic as soon as they got us cleaned up and swaddled. But I guess that might be a birth-weight thing - the only one of us that came in under 8lbs (3.6kg) was my sister. And the last of us was a whopping 10lbs, 10.5oz (4.8Kg). Oh, and there was nine of us.

Yeah, that last one? Mom went directly from maternity to OR to have her tubes tied. She only had one ovary because the other got destroyed by an ovarian cyst when she was 18, but even like that she made a whole baseball team. We weren't take any more chances after that.

(And yes, mom be thicc af.)
