Love the focus on foreign cars in japan!
If you are going to make a manga about supercars in general, it would fall flat if you only had Japanese cars in it. From a Japanese point of view, most of them are very foreign, coming from Europe or the USA, beyond the ocean in either case. If it's only sports cars, it would be easier to emphasize Japanese cars, if the mangaka so wanted, but even in such a case I feel like an occasional Porsche or Corvette thrown into the mix would keep it fresh. Just like Initial D did.
