Im pretty sure thats the weird banked turn in the highway no idea why the author decided to make him take the outside as the corner is usually better taken from the inside (like way better he prob shouldnt be able to overtake like this).

He chose an outside overtake because the opponent being in front could turn in the inside. However the Pantera's superior turning capabilities allow it to overcome this disadvantage.
At least, that's what I think is happening.

I meant that unless the gt was going really slow the pantera shouldnt have been able to overtake as the banking is less sharp on the outside of the corner as it reaches the same steepness few times due to it leveling off slowly over the turn causing the front tires to lift up quite often so it shouldnt be physically possible to overtake there if the gt is going atleast 100.
