Ugh. On the one hand, I'm glad to see this continue and actually interested with the isekai twist, since it explains why Myne's mother had a uniquely Japanese name while everyone else had vaguely European names.

On the other hand, I know it's temporary because it's this fucking guy again who regularly begs for money after dropping a ton of chapters and then disappears for 6 months to a year before doing it all over again, meaning nobody will touch the series in the meantime.

yeah he's back for another round of scamming people. I've decided to just block his entire mangadex account so I don't have to see his uploads ever again. I'd rather not get updates on a title than see that it's another one of his beggar batches.

Warning to anyone actually thinking of donating to this guy: there is evidence that he will keep emailing you to ask for more donations. If you block his email, he will use other addresses to continue begging you for money.

There are also accusations that he does not pay his TLs, contrary to his asking for donations to pay staff.

Since it's done off-site I don't know if they break any Mangadex rules. I did report his account though, likely nothing will happen. If you Google for comicdom scam there are reddit threads of the kinds of shenanigans he apparently gets up to.

I honestly don’t give two shits about people losing their mind about patreon begging or what not. (Heck the majority of groups out there plug a dono link at the end of a chapter, so how the fuck is this new?). Nor am I here to engage in rumours, hearsay or other baseless speculation about the operating habits of a TL group.

All I care about is the release. Someone took the time and effort to translate clean and edit a volume and a half of manga. Whoever that was, thank you. I ain’t got a thin dime to give you but I’m not that much of an ingrate to not at least express my thanks.

I can testify that yes, he just keeps mailing again and again with new paypal accounts. They now all end up in my spamfilter. He also hides people's donations off the Ko-Fi page, to hide how much he actually received.

It's up to you to decide if they're real receipts or not, I don't see any reason why he would make them up, however.

I was a touch annoyed at it, but hey, I get it. Times are tough out there for a lot of people, and supposedly his wife just had a kid and it didn't go very well. I do think he'd be better served just getting a Patreon set up so people could do regular small donations, tho.

I think he/she keeps getting banned on donation sites. I can't really 'prove' that I was scammed beyond sharing the discord chat either, and neither do I care to.
I've moved on, and my own scanlation group is doing great. (That's what happens when you're honest with your community lol)
I prolly won't be getting back that 1500$, but now that I'm here, I've moved on and can look back on it as a painful but effective lesson.
