Damn, this wasn't good. Even though the series started out relatively nice it just didn't come together at all.

There were bits I liked like the more slice-of-lifey segments where she started out alone at the beginning, the yuri undertones and Sukuna as character with her special constitution was also intriguing. But after a while it felt like the just wrote themselves into a corner and started to throw stuff at the wall to see if something sticks.

They had the bit about streaming, the dramatic backstory, suddenly there's the third girl childhood friend who came into a picture, a random PKer girl, a god of the oni (?), and now a sudden raid with all these characters we know shit about who fell just as quick as they showed up? Add to that that the fight scenes weren't dynamic or intersting at all. It just didn't work.
This is an adaptation for a light novel. They cut out a LOT of story to rush to the dragon fight.

Too many people don't know how manga adaptations of light novels work. They're rarely just advertisements for their light novels. At this point, manga adaptations are cheaper versions of stories that publishers can push out by hiring rookie mangaka. In addition, they can stretch out the stories from the source material over more volumes, and expect a better return on investment compared to light novels. Some publishers have half-dropped giving authors LN publications all together in favor of just licensing the story for a straight to manga adaptation. (Shangri-la Frontier is one of the biggest examples.)

The reason the manga here was axed is likely because it sold super poorly. The Light Novel was also axed. Chances are that the series sold so poorly that it couldn't even justify future publication of the cheapest option.

Contrived plot points, clearly skipped context and details, stiff-looking art, and then a non-ending like this? I can’t even call this an ad for a light novel. What a disappointment
