I fucking knew the Mayor was shady as hell.

He might have an altruistic endgoal in mind but ultimately the means don't justify the actions.

Also we get more insight into Ehta's state of mind and I gotta say at first his goal on the outside may seem like him just trying to be edgy and contrarian and hell it still might be but after learning about his condition I got to massively respect his mental fortitude. Most kids would've given up learning that (in addition to becoming an orphan) but my goat will keep pushing on.

I feel bad for Jenna having pledged her loyalty to an absolute psycho like Yak (also I'm sure this isn't the last we've seen of him) but I'm hoping her and Mimosa Rabbit can become friends moving forward.
He seems very much on a knife's edge mentally. He clearly says most of the stuff he says, not to others, but to himself. Dude is trying to gaslight himself that his life doesn't suck.
I mean they said that a person's mentality effects their powers, cant really place moving objects with your mind as anything more than the want to be powerful. But making his imaginary friend real because he is lonely and having an indestructible armour because he doesn't want to die, would be my guess on his actual mentality.

For anyone who has read the official translation, how did they handle the f-bombs? I've been reading it in this TL as a choice to emphasize the coarseness of MC's language (say, like Bostonian where the f-word is akin to a grammatical structure) than true vulgarity
It is very much toned down, they only ever say "shit" whenever someone says くそ (kuso) in Japanese (I've only read up to ch. 3).
And as you said, I pretty much use swearing to emphasize a character's tone. Swear words aren't really used that much in Japanese compared to English and I find they work best when trying to convey the harsh tones some characters use.

I think Jeff said it best "Nine out of ten lies occur six inches away from the bathroom mirror."

If I had to guess, the meteorite disease is spreading slowly hence why the mayor is covertly gathering the fragments. What is happening is probably that when someone is exposed to large amounts of the meteorite, their body becomes a host that slowly becomes more meteorite. This secret anti hero org seems to be more that they're cleaning up the people who are greedy for power and keep eating the meteorites. It likely means that someone who accumulates enough meteorites in their body eventually have their entire body become a giant chunk of meteorite which makes the problem even worse since now there is even more meteorite in the world

EDIT: After some thought, the meteorite might be some kind of eldritch wishing stone. It's trying to grant the wishes of those who touch it but since it's utterly alien it only does so through the knowledge of the user's own desires. The meteorite disease might be the result of people wishing to save someone important to them and using the meteorite as a medium to transfer their remaining lifespan to the person they want to bring back.

I am in awe at the "victim" kid's reaction when he saw MC's predicament... instead of "maybe I should stop doing all these dumb thing", that kid went "oh shit, there's a way to become even more victim!?!"

Also the revelation at the end giving me feeling that the true goal of the (now revealed to be) Mayor's group might be somewhat related to MC's condition

OK guess I was wrong

There's only heroes
Mayor's Serial killer group
and MC

as the main groups of this series
I legit thought it would be cool if there was another serial killer in the hero's when we saw that kid got his arm torn but it turned out to be a lie....:pout:

also people wondering why they are targeting fragments? Didn't they already show us? It makes the consumer stronger/gain abilities? From my understanding is ability users got power thx to getting hit with the meteor fragment so everyone who has special powers have a fragment inside of them and so if you kill a user you can then harvest their fragment and become stronger yourself.....So by killing ability users and only giving it to 3 people you control then in turn you can control everything?

Is how I'm understanding it :thonk:

im guessing the kids in that final panel act as more of a batman team for the heroes, like actually killing and willing to do evil stuff, ends justify the means etc.

So, chapter 1 says that the heroes defeated the main character and brought true peace. Will Ehta go berserk because of this illness? Why is he going to die? Or is this also just a total lie and they actually just got rid of superpowers or something and Ehta gets to live happily ever after (cope)

The disease to me seems like just rock cancer
