Magical explosion she didn't witness and only heard about, a secret funeral, shot in the dark but I think the brother is still alive somehow.

The parents are probably feeling guilty about their past behavior and are pushing for marriage so she can go back to being a girl and not have to pretend to be someone else any longer.

We have the same idea regarding the marriage and wanting her to live her live without lies, but I don't think the brother is still alive.

Secret funeral doesn't mean she didn't she his body, she would've stated otherwise. Also, the mother and father becoming depressed like that for someone potentially being alive, I don't buy it.

I'm predicting something like a duel to between Lovis and her fiance, or even the MC vs the fiance.

This one is on the parents. As soon as they saw her trying to dress up as a boy, the right answer was known to both of them, and they just couldn't step up.
Agreed.

I'm a father myself. I can sympathize with the parents losing their child. But there's two other children that need their mother and father.

Grieving is fine and needed. But there are still responsibilities, that they ignored and forced onto their daughter.

So how are they going to explain the male heir disappearing after all these years?

They will explain it by stating it was done to make sure at no point it looked like there was no male heir. Especially since Latos (the original one) was a genius, so much of the noble family's prestige/image in the eyes of other nobles would have lied on the expectations that the next family head will be a real badass. If it was a family where a daughter can't be the real family head, announcing Latos's death would have meant there's no heir. So, this could be explained as buying time, until they get things fixed by finding the perfect marriage partner.

Just wanted to add.

I have three young children. I would go insane if I lost any of them. But I can't or rather should not. The surviving children would need me more than ever. To teach them why a brother or sister is never coming home. To teach them that loss happens, and it's important to not be consumed by it.

It'd be easy to just lose to grief. But I have responsibilities.

If they (and I have a feeling they will) immediately shift to an arc of finding out the accident was in someway the family of the heir apparent, they just gotta unearth evidence and or get a confession on a large enough scale.

That doesn't sound like someone who doesn't want to be blackmailed in a certain way by a certain person.

Theria doesn't seem like a bad guy or feel malicious, but he understands the situation and that Lovis is not ok with the marriage, yet doesn't let it go: not being the bigger man.
