I think the author made a mistake when Antendixis asked Jilbagias (Alexander) if he wanted to return Lilianas' ego after she had already returned his. The taboo magic only works when it's applied to both the target and the host, so she should've gotten her ego back at the same time Alexander came back. Unless this was a foreshadow of something down the line, it's a "world logic" error.

Going by the novel, it is absolutely Lili who doesn't want to return. She's too broken to return.
