Good art and interesting story but axed. Then there's slop, the fast food of manga industry that stay for 300+ chapters. I'm losing my faith in humanity.

yeah. cuz author can regurgitate the chapters on an industrial line. meanwhile, these ones take a month for a chapter. or 1/3 of a chapter. it's simple math really.

It's a real shame, I think the art is absolutely excellent, especially the expressions and movement.

I will say I think the story feels like it has potential but it's still early enough into it that it might end up going in boring places. Maybe I should look into the novel ...

To be quite honest, I feel this manga adaptation elevated the source material, which falls prey to many of the classical narouslopisms like (inconsistently) framing the text as a fourth-wall pushing first person narration, being extremely dry in non-technical descriptions, and having the protagonist bumble his way into more power/influence via unorthodox methods that shock every other character in the story.
