I get the feeling that a lot of the characters act on whims without a lot of actual justification. MC's mother obsesses over her son becoming the emperor, even though he's number seven and has no chance. This seems to trigger palace intrigues out of fear that she is planning to have the other heirs killed. But all the brothers loooove each other ! But the half-elf guy is sickly, and so is . . . not supposed to see MC? Or something?

There are a bunch of odd conflicts that get set up for no particular reason, which just evaporate for almost no reason. I've been reading this, thinking may be things will settle into a story, but this is just too much!

so from what I understand, he tried to ruin his niece's shop because he didn't have any authority to directly intervene, so he placed external pressure to make his niece give up the shop and acquire it after paying off the debt it's incurred from her operations??

Despite the ridiculous, bend-over-backwards, pseudo-logic presented here, what happened was actually this:

Uncle:
I've decided to hurt my family financially, so I can take their things! I'll claim it was "for their own good," and then destroy the only thing they care about!

Ray:
You're being mean and poopy!
Be nice!

Uncle:
Oh, gosh! I'll stop being poopy, and be nice!

Ray:
Yay! We solved the massive social issue by being happy friends! Tee Hee!

... And they all lived happily ever after in HappyNice World!

That is literally what happened.
The author plainly thinks you have no brains, so it's a small children's story, and all the logic is that of a small child.

Spoiler: Sidetrack

If you are confused by the fact that none of any world works like this, well... that's because the author has left out any kind of consequence, cause, or effect that would occur in the real world; everybody is nice, and nobody ever thinks mean thoughts, and there is never anything beyond sunshine and dry rainbows all day long.
Nothing that happens in any real world, anywhere, to anybody, will ever happen in this manga; there is never any strife, merely the appearance of it, solved easily by a magical child that makes everybody happy-go-lucky at all times like a brain filled with flowers.

That's how this world works, and that's every single chapter:
Sunshine, flowers, and faking happiness for happiness sake.
