A valuable look into Ruo's backstory. Wasn't even allowed to attend school? He just learned ballet, Japanese, Russian, and music from his grandmother -- a bitter old woman. No wonder this guy is emotionally stunted and has awful social skills. He actually seemed more human in this chapter than at any point prior.

The way this chapter is structured so differently from the rest of the manga really threw me for a loop here. It's almost like some montage of short scenes in an 80s film. Narratively, it's all connected, the continuity is there, but the way the scenes jump is very curious. I guess the translator being different now (at least it sure feels that way from the prose) also adds to that effect of differentiation from the rest of the manga. Cool chapter nonetheless.

only if this damned woman loved her daughter as much as she loved ruo miyako could have some confidence, everyone helping him but no one is there for her to rely on fuk this shit
Junpei. Eventually.

While I sympathize to some extent with Ruo, I don't think I'll ever find him likeable. His air of superiority, his miserable scowling face and most of all his emotionally abusive and deeply unhealthy relationship with Miyako. Hopefully she can now break free from his suffocating possessiveness and become a more expressive and happier character. Agree on Chizuru too, she's living vicariously through Ruo but at the expense of her daughter.
