Same, he's just insufferable. Kind of weird he gets the tritagonist treatment despite having showcased no redeemable qualities beyond incidentally being present around protagonists, and having weaponized chuunibyou syndrome.

I think considering this manga, this guy is gonna get some proper development and hating on him just after 1 adventure is too much.
look unless there is a time jump that gives him time to become more athletic or learn something, he will probably die crushed by something or end up becoming something similar to mister satan from dragon ball, you know a little local hero but in reality a fraud
this chapter was unnecessary and only served to delay or disturb the story by making him take the note that was obviously meant for the other guy which will take him a long time to get there and he will only get in the way and be saved by the others until he has courage to do something long enough for the true protagonist to arrive

Are you serious? Why would him being athletic matter? Or did you forget who the male MC is? Ken Takakura is main things, but athletic isn't one of them.
He also isn't supposed to be likeable. He is the Usopp of this story. The comedic relief.
This, I have to agree. The whole alien fighting arc so far has been kinda meh for me. Not bad, but not nearly on the level of the stuff before.
I mean.... this was such a waste of a chapter. A whole chapter with this guy moping around and being ignored by everyone around him for being pathetic.
Like. Ok.
What did this chapter showed us that we didn't already know?
It showed that he was playing up his wounds so he'd feel special.
It showed us that he passed by their house and noticed they were gone.
It showed us he found a note saying we're they were and he made a bike from the tori gate and went after them.
Could've done that in 4 or 6 pages.
Did not need a whole chapter of him mopping around acting out as we inow him to, and don't care to see more of - because there are more important things happening.
This is not me being negative. This is me calling out a huge error in narrative pacing.
Not to mention that people already don't like this character. So THIS whole thing? Might as well not have had a chapter this week. Which is terrible because these things take a lot of work and the art style we have here is amazing. So seeing it wasted on terrible pacing like this?

Gotta be kidding, Mr. Satan-type characters are hugely popular. I swear these days people just want characters that can punch hard. I want less Gokus and Narutos and more Usopps and Powers.
Not only is his self-reflection already apparent, this chapter was a breath of fresh air after like 5 of only fighting. I do agree the pacing of fighting for multiple chapters is not the greatest, so that's why I like this.

Same here. Flunking the exam then feeling secretly relieved when someone did worse than I did, and being terrible in P.E. almost felt like it was straight out of my dark history.

I liked this chapter a lot, good slice of life to mix into the non-stop action we had.
Also, the character isn't that bad. He isn't like a typical otaku from stereotypes like Chitose in Ramune Bottle, just a guy who got to experience something cool and wanted to make it known after living a closed-off life, to which he eventually returned.
I am assuming in the next chapters, he will realize that it isn't about being popular but putting it all into what you do ... And let's be honest, all of us had those cringy chuuni moments in our lives.

what i meant is that he would try his hardest to try to get on the same level as everyone else but the most he could do is lose weight or learn to do something with alien technology, something simple like driving a spaceship or something with a pocket computer , which anyone can learn and they eventually learn, only they let it be his thing because they pity him, then either he dies trying to be a hero or he ends up making some misunderstanding so absurd that it makes everyone like him so that if they find out the truth, everyone goes back to hating him, in the end he ends up fat again at the bottom of the well
