Moral lessons are better delivered in church than in school
I'm sure japan has some religious stuff but extreme cults aside, it seems to be a more 'cultural'? thing outta habit if they do like new years shrine stuff as opposed to faithfully believing in some deity when they offer prayers /draw fortune slips (my parents are buddhists and occasionally light incense but it didn't rly affect our daily lives too much) but other than them encouraging snitching or so i'd assume it'd just be basic morals you'd learn in elementary school like "don't cheat/steal from your classmates" or so (despite all the rampant bullying in some manga)
interesting that one westerner-Eng teacher did sit in on one tho idk how deep it got since she was teaching like 10-11 year olds (tho other than her changing the lines [which would seem unneeded b/c not like anything private would be revealed], not sure what the 'moral' you're supposed to get from this example is versus 'be happy with friends'(?))
