What female instinct, instinct to go F on having kids, nurturing NOTHING, and man are nothing but cash cow?
Today female society have no need for man WHOMAN say.
You are not seeing the big picture. They are nurturing things, just instead of their own children (as they should), they "nurture" pets, immigrants, or people they deem "pitiful" or "unfortunate", regardless of how accurate such label is.

I never thought I would actually feel bad for her.
Many wouldn't have, not fully excluding myself either here, even if I somehow predicted her circumstances.

Wall of text, so skip it if you don't enjoy my ramblings:

I never hated or disliked Ruri, but of course you'd think "this bitch needs correction" and hope she'd fail or crash hard when the author presents her as an antagonist with bad intentions. Yet something told me she'd have a background that made her this way and I was curious to see how an irregular like her came to be.

If you look at Ruri objectively then she's a high ranker in a male guard school yet ditches her duties frequently and even targets the boys. That makes no sense if she's a normal girl like the others. So she is not, but how? Ruri's outwardly carefree attitude and friendly approach is contrasted by an appearance and certain behaviour indicating she's a troublemaker but always get's away with it. I thought she had to be rather smart to pull such stunts off and actually not getting expelled. And I also thought she certainly wasn't born as a bitch, and maybe deep down actually is aynthing but. Yet she wears a mask to hide her weak spots in school. Her unhealthy look with dark eyebags and hollow gaze tells you a lot...

I thought that a girl like her must have serious problems. She acts reckless and stirs up trouble, to the point where she makes snarky remarks to incite others as if she doesn't care a bit what happens. Yet she still maintains her rank. It looks like she does this to hide something behind - Ruri's life is terribly exhausting, her eyes look so disillusioned and empty that it seems she lost all hope and trust in the world/people around her. To top it off, when Mikan and Momiji were shown first I felt Ruri was a bit out of touch with her teammates. She must be quite lonely, I guessed - and that is what made me devise a theory about Ruri having a younger brother who she does not really get along with.

Obviously, given how it usually goes in that world, she'd be the older sister, because almost all mothers stop having kids after they give birth to a boy. I knew nothing about Ruri's family then, so I tried to put myself in her shoes. If I was Ruri, what would be the worst case scenario to start with. I then I looked at Sumire. What if Akane wasn't Akane but any usual mother? Yeah, that's it. The absolutely worst case scenario would be if Ruri lives in a family of three, with a boy-fixated mom and a brother who's about like 3-4 years younger than her:

In the early years Ruri had her mom's love all for herself but suddenly her mother said:
"Mama will have another baby, so Ruri-chan will be a big sister soon."
Ruri was probably happy to get a sibling but instead of a sister, a boy was born. Her mother then directed all to him while the daughter got left in the dust - or at the very least she got dragged into it. Big sisters usually help raising younger kids, that's normal and that world and a little boy that's all the more true. In the beginning there was no bigger issue, Ruri was probably happy to have a brother. But in the long run a boy puts a lot of stress on his sisters. Since the family now has a male, they (or rather: the mother) has something to protect with all her might and will be very strict and restrictive. An example: what would an overprotective Mom think if her daughter brought her friends (obviously girls) home? Yep, no-go. Like:
"Don't allow thieving cats in, they'll scare Kou-chan"
That's something Ruri might have gotten to hear. In families the daughters obviously must help taking care of a boy, the mother would expect it. And Ruri certainly did, maybe even happily at first, but over time that would change. Ruri, despite being small herself, would get robbed of parental love over the months and years and she won't be rewarded. Her mother puts more and more demands on her daughter and denies her a lot while the boy never hears a single NO from her.
Even if Ruri goes along with that for a long time, at some point she will simply have enough because her brother not only stole her mother's love and attention from her, he's almost certain to become an ungrateful pest. It would be a bit different for a girl who has two or three sisters before the boy is born, because then this insane burden could be shared among them. But for a single daughter getting a brother is probably a nightmare unless her mother is Satou Akane.

The real pain in the rear will start if the daughter of such a family has problems with her brother - or worse, if he dislikes her for whatever reason. In that case the girl will be doomed. Her mother wouldn't ever listen to her daugther and automatically side with the son. What should be a safe place to grow up in would turn into a living hell devoid of love and warmth. Or rather, the love would be there, so close yet so very far away and forever out of reach. Such a girl will be isolated at home and probably also from her peers eand turn into an emotional wreck. And if that happens from early on then she will have serious issues with other people, and especially with males.

If Ruri's life looks anything like that I want to make her my daughter.

O-oh... she's actually deeper than we thought. No one expected she's the dark version of Sumire.
EDIT: There is a non-zero chance Sumire is related to Ruri. Sumire's eye and hair colors are extremely similar to the Konno sisters though, but it's still not impossible she could be related to Ruri.

Ruri actually is, or was, taking her escorting seriously as a big sister.
A culture might've developed that older sisters are supposed to look after their younger brothers.

From what we know, moms usually stop having kids after they have a son.
The son gets special treatment, but as we've now seen, it varies from mother to mother.
Satou Akane loves her daughters even if she already has a son, but Ruri's mom probably ignores, if not abuses her.
The horrible part of this is that it actually makes sense for them to ignore their daughters in favor of their son with how skewed the sex ratio is...
It seems being traumatized, for obvious reasons, makes women more resistant to falling to their "female instincts", though we can see Hinata's trauma being healed bit by bit.

I actually don't want Ruri to fall for Sou or even the boy she's guarding. I much prefer now that she builds a friend or sibling dynamic with the boys. I feel like genuine friendship between men and women in this world is even rarer than men just banging women (looks at R18 Sou, although he is friends with them... with benefits).

And if you guys want it even darker... consider if one of those crazy females birth a son, and the fact that incest is, I assume from this and the R18 world, is widely-accepted.

EDIT: Someone caught on that Hinata is gripping her hand tightly. So that's at least two women with family issues...

God I unironically love this series. There's the funny parts of course, and then it sometimes hits you with the ramifications of this world. Also I want to take this opportunity to shit on Solo Levelling again. Somehow the worldbuilding and characters in that are shallower than this one lmao.

Say, how do you guys usually refer to this series? Danjo-hi? Or A Parallel World With a 1:39 Male to Female Ratio (a bit long IMO)? I think referring it (partly) using its Japanese name is an issue since a lot of them also has "danjo-hi" in the title. Maybe "Danjo-hi 1:39"?
i just call it "one thirty nine"

WAIT WAIT WAIT... PSYCHOLOGICAL STRUGGLES IN MY SEMI-SEXY COMEDY MANGA !? ... okay, I'm listening.
There is also the ongoing Hinata's struggles. The chapter that revealed it also had one of the greatest jump-scare scenes in the whole manga medium, imo. Having such a stark tonal shift without feeling unnatural or out of place at all was a real technical achievement.

For a series that on the surface looks like self fulfillment slop. It genuinely has some interesting plot points and genuinely has like, world building and great comedic moments.

What the fuck guys, I can't recommend a series like this without looking like a total weirdo!

Yknow, I wonder what the next volume cover is going to be? It has been a good amount of chapters. The current volume has Yuri. Wonder who will be featured on the next one? It could be Ruri with how things are going.

Going by past covers it will likely be three. Even the current one had "three" girls (Yuri and her two main alter egos)
It's highly likely that the next cover will be Ruri, with Mikan and Momiji a bit in the back - i.e. "Team D".

Another option would be the three other boys in Grade II. Mairu and Tooru are revealed. Excluding Takahashi from Class C here since he stopped attending. But there's still one more guy (from Class B) that needs to be introduced. Since the 2nd ranked girls from class B and C had their names unveiled, it could also be that we will see their teammates next and we get a whopping six people on the next chapter. But that's not very likely.

I say it will be Team D, and the obligatory blue stickman...

Now, if I had to do a cover design:
Ruri would be looking onto the small stage of a puppet theater, manipulating a handheld cross with its strings attached to the usual blue stickman we always have on the cover. A little in the background, partly hidden behind a curtain stands Momiji looking worried at Ruri and then next to her would be Mikan, with one hand on her hip and the other adjusting her glasses while making a really sour face.

It has Kuroki Sensei and Aikawa sensei for sure, perhaps Konoe akiram also features.
