Reminder that while Adultery is not illegal in most places and is rarely enforced where it is. Penalties for polygamous cohabitation are just as steep as those for public sex (even public indecency in front of minors).

That is literally in the laws of most first world places.

Even group sex is only under health regulations, but plural marital commitment is a felony.

(I prefer that plural marriage between consenting adults be outside of the law, unsupported and unpunished. This way people can by in committed polygamy and only be punished by law for actual crimes like abuse)

Enforcement practically doesn't exist in the United States. Seattle and Utah have enough poly configurations that calling the cops would make you the asshole. It'd probably be fine, especially in a world where male-led harems seem to be the default.

I'm just pointing out those laws exist.
In most of the first world unwed cheating and married adultery are not crimes, but Polygamy (not just plural marriage) can be prosecuted with very severe penalties.

It sets a bad precedent.
