After going through the raws, the ending was honestly rushed and disappointing.

Rotten government infiltrated by criminals? A group of powerful quirky individuals? Revolution brewing in the background? Hoo boy, we're going Akame ga Kill pretty quickly on this, aren't we?
At first I felt minor parallels to Psycho-Pass with Shin having a psychopath of a boss, but now that they're stepping out of Lawful alignment things are changing. If Shin does become a criminal mage while working under law enforcement then the parallels to Psycho-Pass will return, especially if Alice gets absorbed into the law enforcement Division Zero as an official mage hunter (won't be happening just yet since she's technically still an Academy student, right?)
