Exceptionally dumb. Why would a 15 year old having parents in their 40s be strange? I have to assume the target of the kidnapping wasn't a literal princess but the Japanese term instead. Even so why does no one notice that Duke Howard is pure evil? A famous noble running over and then immediately divorcing their fiance wouldn't be something you could hide, let alone routinely kidnapping and enslaving other noblewomen. Just openly flirting at parties while engaged would be enough of a scandal.

If you want this kind of setup than give us some justification. It's not hard. Let's say Luna's house is in debt to the Duke's. Instead of being actually engaged, she was essentially going to sell her maidenhood, but the cruel Duke decided to cripple her and still demand the debt be paid in full. Instead of being adored by all the braindead debutante's, Howard's reputation precedes him and they're all terrified but can't oppose him because of his rank and magic power. Obviously he wouldn't be literally enslaving noblewomen of his own kingdom, that's a recipe for a civil war or getting assassinated. Just say his house traps their vassals with debt and regularly takes their daughters as collateral, technically servants/maids, but torturing and abusing them all the same. It's still absurd, but it doesn't make everyone else look like a complete idiot.

  • Hide your power level!
  • I'm trying, but I can't seem to get it as low as you
  • But I'm not even... You know, nevermind.

So the intro had me intrigued. Fine concept at the start. Leaves room for plot and exploration. Im down.

Then she's faced with a, uh... "Minecraft Youtuber"... who has confessed to forcing a large number of women in the past, killing and branding them, has kidnapped the princess for the same goal, hired thugs to kill people at the party, and is going to burn her to death.......... and she decides "eh I'll just scare him a bit" instead of killing him outright. Like... WHY.

Is the author... dense? He wrote a minor villain to be a completely horrid person, who is absurdly evil for the sake of being evil, and then just... lets him off. And has the FMC just... not care about what he's done.

That just seems weird to me. Even for manga. That is some dark stuff the guy did, but killing him? Oh that's too far...

Killing him is letting him off easy actually???? He's getting life without parole in the most hellish prison they have.
And she's a healer, which makes her the fantasy equivalent of a doctor. It's her Duty to save human lives.

This is operating on the assumption that either the investigators are incompetent or the royal family deems the Princess expendable, neither of which is a safe bet.

The kidnapping and killing of a Princess is a Big Deal. It's not something ordinary bandits would normally do unless they have backings. Even if officials distrust the bandits' testimony, they'll still pursue that lead under intense public and political pressure; no government can credibly leave a claim like that unexplored.

Furthermore, a parent in grief is not a rational actor. The King could definitely demand revenge, and even start a war, even with paltry evidence. And even if we are to assume the King didn't actually love the Princess, he might still do it anyway as a show of power so no one else dares messing with the crown.

There is a chance that the royal family would not react, yes, but a plan that hinges on the whims of someone a lot more powerful than you is neither sound nor logical.
I did say they would start a war and blame the kingdom for letting it happen. I just doubt that they would be thorough past killing the bandits. I don't think this world is like the modern times with DNA testing and modern judicial system.

I thought this manga was dumb as hell, then there's this comment...

Bro kidnapped royalty, in public, in a monarchy society. That summed up how stupid this is.
Wait, did I mention that dude pull this stunt in public? With a big group of people and a flashy carriage? And return to his goddamn house like a moron?

Who don't?
The royal family? They gonna see it through so whoever did this shit will never has a chance to do it again.
Other nobles? Favor with royalty, land and prestige when the dude falls, you name it. Why would they throw away an easy cake?
Dude committed a treason, a crime of a highest severity (and with none and zero heroic reason to back like "for the good of the country" or some sort), and you think anyone would just let it slide?

It literally doesn't matter. [Insert noble X who does stupid shit] will be erased including the whole extended family doesn't matter children or women to prevent further revenge. It's just history class.

Getting a 90 years sentence is actually light af.
The dude didn't do it. The "bandits did it". If bandits are dead, case solved. That's how he thinks he could get away with it. He's apparently done it enough times to be so bold with it you could assume the justice system is just as dumb as he is.

No, that's a princess. Shit has hit the jet turbine, and until they recover said princess and/or find the actual backer of the crime, it's going to be spilling all over the place. The host of the party? Fucked. Every single noble family who attended that party? Thoroughly investigated. The bandits pointed their fingers at some random noble? Life is suddenly going to be incredibly unpleasant for him, even if he isn't the actual culprit. It's not "there's no other evidence they don't believe nor prove it", it's "this information has been tortured out of the bandits, this considered reliable, he better be ready to actively prove his innocence, and fuck the burden of proof, this is not a society based on the rule of law and due process".

Hell, the Royal Guard arrived literally, what, a few minutes after the kidnapped princess at his mansion? That's not even "not covered tracks", that's "didn't even manage to avoid pursuit". Dude was beyond fucked even if there was time. He was too dumb to live, and would have never gotten away with it. Only dumber people involved were the bandits themselves for not realizing that their position was even worse.

There's a reason why the common trope for these sort of stories is for the kidnapping victim to be waylaid on the road or for it to be a stealth thing. And when there's an attack at this type of aristocratic gathering? It's generally terrorists, demons, or the opening play in a war, any of which that they don't care if they are discovered because it's gonna be open and full on conflict anyway.

Well, I still think she should have burned them down (I mean the kingdom, btw), but this didn't suck. Let's see where it goes.

Lets not question how bandits just walked in there when in reality they couldnt even have gotten close to the outer walls without drawing attention
