I was curious and tried researching online if Japan really ranks their student's grades publicly like portrayed in their fiction.

Most people who actually live in Japan said that this is mostly fictional, and that they had never seen public grade rankings in their schools.

The ones who had seen this, where either older people from an older era of education, or people from other countries where they still do this today, like China for example.

What the guy (whose name I'm not going to bother look up) at 75th place said was basically what I did. I didn't bother to be the best but at the same time I didn't want my parents to worry so I maintained a B average in school. Wouldn't change it if I woke up & had to redo high school. Anyways I feel like if this ended at volume 3 like the author stated, this manga would've been less frustrating to read. Thanks for the translations.

If you read the new chapters from the other retcon series it seemed they were going to do a happy ending lol.

I can’t believe the author did that whole pivot in chapters because he was having a mid-life crisis

I want to sympathize with the guy but Jesse Crisp

It seems that this volume isn’t selling as well as the previous ones. Here’s the data for volumes 3 and 4:

It didn’t make it onto the weekly top-selling manga list for December 9th to 15th:

It also didn’t appear on the previous list, from December 2nd to 8th, which would account for two days of sales (It was released on December 6th).

How more volume yall think this got before the axe swings
Welp, since sales of volume 5 aren’t doing as well as the previous ones, maybe the series will end with volume 6. It’s ironic how the author kept complaining about struggling to write the story before the redraw, yet volume 5 feels pretty mediocre and clearly shows signs of struggling with the writing.

In my (American) middle school, rankings were done in some classes, but anonymized by student ID#, but like, people just shared their SID#, so it was effectively public rankings minus the 2 quiet girls.
