Wouldn't it have made more sense if the updated version of the page was included in chapter 3? Because if the page was replaced before he released the chapter, he shouldn't have had the original available to include. It should have just been the new one. (Unless he made a "safe" copy of all the original pages for some reason? Maybe he was predicting that one of them would change...)

It's possible he collected the files to be uploaded and moved them to an uploads folder. Then before uploading it, he may have double checked to make sure all the images were there and noticed that one was different.
Alternatively, he likely already knew that sometimes the pages change since he noticed it with the previous chapter. This time, he may have intentionally made a copy of all the images of ch2, and waited a bit so he could share it with us if anything changed.

I like how the original and changed panel work.

Like the original panel is creepy but not super exaggerated so you can easily tell what's going on, and then the changed panel is even creepier but would be a bit difficult to parse without the other one. And the panels have a noticably different style than the rest of the chapter, so even though they're a few pages apart your brain immediately goes, "this is that thing from earlier but it got even worse."
