Dear fucking god why.
What is this.
Why does this exist.
How do you fuck up a scanlation that bad.
Seriously, even on my first typeset I knew not to use a plain sans serif font as my body font.

yeah, It's my first one. I'm obviously not a purist like you but I really appreciate the constructive criticism. I'm mainly trying to get something up for people to read. Sorry, you don't like my fonts man. I'm new to the program I used. If you don't like it, don't read it, or better yet do it for me. You seem like a guy that's done a bunch.

I think most people care about quality rather than the speed of release.

Yes... Let's bash the guy for the guy's first attempt at the least important part of scanlation having different problems than we had during our first attempt... Even though the most important parts--being the translation and proofreading--were at least as good as most well established scanlation groups...

@Gaijin
Not bad as no glaring translation issue for your 1st time. The font not really that bad for me, just finds it odd it was used.

But are you sure you want join the bowl? We already have 2 scanlation team working on the series so any mistakes people will bash, instead of grateful for the chapter.
If you try working on dead/untranslated series I'm sure people respond will be better.

Thanks Hank. Kah, I'll go read those guides. Thanks for posting them. You have a specific font that you use? One that will grant me the blessings of the scanslation elite?

Wait a minute @Hank, are you seriously saying typesetting is the least important part of scanlation?
Dude, do you even do scanlation?
Typsetting is as important as everything else, there're so many layers of work behind a good scanlation work, one of the most important being typesetting, since it's the way the text is gonna be displayed on the pages. But even then, that doesn't rest importance to cleaning, redrawing, translating, proofreading, and even quality control.
I don't care if this guy's work is shit, there's always room for improvement, but if you've never done scanlation before, please don't come and say bullshit like TS is not important at all.

Edit: As NZPIE said on his comment above, if people want to improve they need criticism as well as guiding, we're not experts ourselves either, but at least we try our best and try to improve everyday.
@GaijinSenpai if you really want to improve yourself I'd like to invite you to r/manga's discord server: https://discord.gg/redditmanga.
There you'll find a lot of people willing to help you on this scanlation train.

Well, there's these fonts here: http://prettyanonymo.us/index.php/scanlation-resources/

If you're just starting out, Anime Ace 2.0 or Wild Words for body text, Augie for aside text, and Bangers or Badaboom for SFX.

I personally don't use any of those, but for a beginner, those are fine.

Adding onto what kurisu says, I'm a typesetter. I spend hours on each release to get the quality right. It's not just erase here and add text here. You've got to worry about font choice, lining, redrawing, readability, etc. For you to say that it's the "least important part" is a load of bullshit. All parts of scanlating are equally important. If one aspect sucks the rest falls down with it.
TL;DR go fuck yourself Hank.

@Hank nani the fuck, the least important part is the raw providing here, as it's literal digital raws.
Also, the English in this is pretty shit. I've seen much better.

P.S. How would he improve if he doesn't get any criticism? There's no one teaching you how to TS and shit if you're just gonna do it like he is. We're literally the only people who can tell him "Hey, this is bad, go get better."

1) Don't use vertical typesetting. It's cancer to read and looks bad most of the time, especially if you don't space it correctly.
2) Try and use a comic font, like @kah0922 pointed out. Those fonts are pretty good for these things.
3) Ease up on the bold words. Bolding is used for emphasis, it loses impact if you use it too often.

Other things you can find in the guide. I'm not even a good typesetter myself.

I like your 1st attempt @Gaijinsenpai! Those the Bold Words threw me off but it's still good.

Gotta crack a few eggs to bake a cake right?

Hope you keep improving!

Looking forward to whatever else you guys release!

Look guys, I'll do my best to improve. I'll get fonts, I'll try and do my redraws better, read the guides, etc. But I'm a one man crew outside of my translator. I've got a full time job and I did this in my spare time, at the expense of other things I wanted to do, because I like this anime and the manga and wanted more people to read it. There's two crews that do this manga currently. One is primarily Spanish and one of them used another's as a template, which is now watermarked all to hell for that reason. I didn't see near this much hate for thier work. I pulled my own raws found my own translator, did my own editing, and typesetting all with a program I wasn't familiar with. I'm not a pro, and don't claim to be. Hopefully you guys will be a little kinder to my asshole next week. Thanks for the resources though.

I do a lot of work as solo too. But I agree, this manga might need some improvement as well.
I'm glad you're open to improve yourself tho.

Edit: I agree with CoolOtamega, pls revive some good dead series, it'll be really appreciated, even more if it's genderbender.

@GaijinSenpai, one advice from me. Don't Use toxic popular series like this,
You should use abandoned or untranslated series for part of training, there are many piled up of them.
after that upload your scanslate here and promote them at reddit (like kurisu said) https://discord.gg/redditmanga or https://www.reddit.com/r/manga/
There are lot of nice people to guide you

Edit : Agree with kurisu, Gender Bender and Traps is Humanity Highest Peak of Culture

To everyone saying criticism is important, yes. Criticism is important, but commenting"Dear fucking god why. What is this. Why does this exist. How do you fuck up a scanlation that bad. Seriously, even on my first typeset I knew not to use a plain sans serif font as my body font" helps nothing. Do you know what would have gotten the same point across and would have actually helped? "The font you used isn't very readable in this format. You should use *insert font suggestion* instead."

@NZPIEFACE I said least important, not least difficult. Raws providing is the MOST important. Without the raws (regardless of how easy they are to procure), you wouldn't have the chapter. Your inability to make that distinction makes me question your ability to judge "the English."

@kurisu I've seen bad cleaning. I've seen bad redrawing. I've seen bad translating. I've seen bad proofreading. I've seen bad QC. I've seen bad typesetting. The bad typesetting detracts the least from the reading. For the record, I didn't "come and say bullshit like TS is not important at all." Yes, typesetting is important. Yes, it can take time. That said, if I could choose to get a chapter a week+ earlier with typsetting that looked like this, I would be fine with it. If I had to wait another month to get a readable translation, I absolutely would.
