imo bringing back dead characters isn't inherently bad writing; it just needs a good justification, and can only be used infrequently. plus i'm sure they're gonna die again anyways lmao

Imo the big shift happened when they went to totally-not-Japan, that very suddenly expanded the scope by a lot and essentially abandoned the death game with powers premise for the metaplot.

re:Time travel shenanigans: Honestly, I'm kind of fine with time travel bullshit bringing everyone back, as long as the time travel power is the final act twist, on the home stretch to the finale, and pretty much a last resort. This late in the game it doesn't devalue every death until now, because they still happened and seemed final for like 95% of the story. This is a fun what-if scenario.
