Not super familiar with Fairy Tail but I found it incredibly strange that there is no magic academy in the world of Fairy Tail.
They mostly have an apprenticeship and 'figure it out on your own' sort of system. Older Wizards teach younger wizards... there are also a few small schools (sort of like dojos). But the thing is, the forms of magic that one might learn are all so diverse that classroom-based teaching isn't really an optimal method in the first place (which can also be said about education and learning styles in general, but that's a whole other topic). One-on-one instruction and books on magic are the way to go.
