That photorealistic face gave me the creeps...but we have more context: the left and right wing elements of the alien society are at war inside the ship, paralleling S.H.I.P. and the anti-alien factions on Earth. Alien or human, infighting is inevitable among an intelligent species. Wouldn't surprise me if the aliens have an empire of their own across space.
