i remember being really mean to this one after my first read but i then only kept a good impression of it. so i reread it yesterday and its really not so bad. uhm definitely for a particular audience that already enjoys these kinda gorey, confusing death games. its especially confusing if you cant read hiragana (which i cant) but its really not a fault of the manga (or the translators) its just one of those works that translates poorly. i like the gimmick! its the first & only "deadly crosswords" ive seen (and i actively seek out these kinda works)
also if ure a bit genre-aware this isnt AS tropey as ud imagine? its fine to have an asshole "smarter than you" type w 0 empathy as a protag. its only 4 chapters long anything else would clutter the story. the female best friend dying first is neat cause then u also avoid the "the best friend was a traitor all along!!" trope thats overdone. instead we have a final twist that actually works! like this isnt a manga that blew my mind but its biggest flaw really is that the whole gimmick relies on the reader knowing hiragana, which isnt the fault of the manga if you dont.
