The MC just needs to have his childhood friend here use her curse reversal spell on him, and he's in the clear. Why has this potential solution not occurred to him yet when he knows more about this stuff than I would?

The author has thrown themselves into a downward spiral, and I don't think I can continue to give them the benefit of the doubt. It grows increasingly difficult for me to believe they'll pull their head out of their a** with every chapter.
