For any other gun guys scratching their heads on the cover art rifle I'll save you some searching.
Looks like a Type 89-1 rifle lower: The folding tube stock and the raised central boss and window on the magwell are easy IDs. The single piece grip and trigger guard are fairly unique to it too. STANAG mag compatibility checks out.
And a Type 91 upper. Theone piece handguard and vertical gas port.

The stuff that doesn't work:
It's completely missing the charging handle
The upper also requires a buffer tube and the type 89-1 lower is solid back there as seen below:
I also find it kinda funny that the rest of the chapter draws type 89s just fine. That unique rear sight position and stepped handguard
