@thegentelman I disagree. This is supposed to be taken metaphorically and not literally. It's about asking the question, "What's the point in being alive if you have no value to society" and not "fck amputees". I'd say that you don't have a heart but then again your opinion is just different than mine.
It's supposed to be taken literally but the literal message is:
Child abuse against disabled kids. His mom beat him down by telling him that he couldn’t do anything. And being a kid, he believed her. He lost all hope for his life. Then the final straw was his mom telling him that she never even wanted him.
A good parent would have encouraged him. They would have helped him learn how to do basic tasks in his own way or eliminated the need for unnecessary ones so he can be independent. (Seriously, who buys a kid a button shirt and berates them for having trouble buttoning it? T-shirts exist, asshole.) They would find a physical therapist or school with teachers who are willing to help him learn other life skills. They would make sure he gets the accommodations he needs at school.
They would try to get a prosthetic. And if they couldn’t (because they're incredibly expensive) they would keep supporting his dream while gently steering him towards a related career that doesn’t need two arms. Like, say, an aerospace engineer or air traffic controller. Or preferably another related job that pays well enough to afford an arm.
