I tried to use syllables English speakers are familiar with instead of official Pinyin where "jiu" is actually pronounced as "ji-oh-u" where English speakers will see "jiu" and attempt to read it as "ji-u". Also, I added "!" and "?" to give a hint of intonation (since Chinese is a tonal language).
If only the entire world was used to using IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) but no, everyone invents their own phonetic notation. And guys from USA have been inventing it over and over and now Google Translate uses some unknown phonetic notation which isn't described anywhere.
