The ring thing wasn't forgotten. The ring was shown in this chapter and the reaction to it was shown at the end of the last. The question is why did only the MC pay attention to said ring. Either the other guy played it off, ignored it, or assumed that MC was somewhere nearby, but wasn't the guy on the floor. I don't think he knows that MC can hide his appearance, so he probably wouldn't expect a guy dying from poison to be him.
